A 5.9-km stretch of Gwangju's Sangmu-daero named "Semiconductor-ro"
Gwangsan-gu designates Songjeong 1 Bridge to Geungnak Bridge stretch as "Semiconductor-ro"; name to be used for five years
A section of Sangmu-daero in Gwangsan-gu, Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, has been given the name "Semiconductor-ro." The honorary road name reflects the region's commitment to establishing a national semiconductor industrial complex in the Honam region and attracting businesses.
According to Gwangsan-gu on October 18, the district held a meeting of its Address Information Committee on October 16 and designated the 5,855-meter stretch from the Songjeong 1 Bridge intersection to near the Geungnak Bridge intersection as "Semiconductor-ro."
An honorary road name is a symbolic name given to a road to convey a special significance, such as regional development or business attraction. The existing street address remains unchanged, and the name has no effect on legal addresses.
"Semiconductor-ro" will remain in use for five years from the date of its official announcement. Gwangsan-gu plans to install signs along the stretch to explain the meaning of the honorary road name.
