in their everyday lives"
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province has decided to make residents' neighborhoods more convenient by prioritizing citizens' needs.
On October 16, Changwon Special City held a briefing on 100 Citizen-First Projects at the Citizens' Hall in City Hall, with about 100 citizens in attendance.

The city aims to thoroughly identify neighborhood-level issues directly affecting citizens' lives and review the need for projects together with residents.
Changwon Special City identified a total of 500 Citizen-First Projects based on residents' perspectives, with a combined budget of about 28 billion won. By category, the projects include ▲neighborhood mobility (126 projects) ▲daily-life safety (103) ▲environmental improvements (115) ▲expanded leisure opportunities (101) ▲neighborhood culture (41) and ▲the neighborhood economy (14). A diverse range of detailed projects closely related to residents' daily lives was identified and selected.
At the briefing, district heads personally reported key projects in their districts to citizens, and citizens and the mayor discussed why the projects were needed. Going beyond a simple presentation of flagship projects, the event served as a forum for communication and decision-making, where citizens and officials together assessed the need for the projects and freely shared their views.
Changwon Mayor Kang Giyun said, “Citizens are always at the heart of city administration. ‘Citizens First, a Happier Changwon’ is not merely a slogan for city administration, but an absolute value that the administration must pursue.”
He added, “We will steadily move forward with Citizen-First Projects that reflect citizens' candid voices and bring about tangible change that residents can clearly feel in their everyday lives.”
