The office, which began operations on September 28, is located in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.
Attendees at the opening ceremony included Lee Junyong and Choi Changhun, CEOs of Mirae Asset Global Investments; Koo Yongdeok, head of equity investments; and Kwon Ohsung, head of investment solutions, as well as Kim Seongju, chairman of the National Pension Service; Go Jeongsam, deputy governor for economic affairs of Jeonbuk State; and Kim Eunju, director general of Jeonju City's Economy and Industry Bureau.
Mirae Asset Global Investments plans to use the Jeonju office to establish an ongoing communication channel and regular in-person consultation system with the National Pension Service. When major issues arise, such as rapid market changes, the office will coordinate with asset-class-specific investment and risk management teams at the company's Seoul headquarters to respond quickly. Investment professionals responsible for domestic and international equities, bonds, and alternative investments will also visit the site in person to expand consultations. The company plans to assign staff to work locally in the future to continuously strengthen its on-the-ground response capabilities.
The office will also serve as a regional hub for the Chungcheong and Honam regions, handling consultations on the Pension Fund Investment Pool for regional pension funds and public institutions, as well as marketing and client management for general corporations and retail and pension clients. Since 2001, Mirae Asset Global Investments has managed assets entrusted by the National Pension Service across domestic and international equities, bonds, and alternative investments.
