LG Electronics' wireless Wallpaper TV, the LG SIGNATURE OLED W, has been named one of TIME magazine's "The Best Inventions of 2026."
LG Electronics said on Oct. 16 that the LG SIGNATURE OLED W was selected as a top invention in the home appliances category. TIME praised the TV for overcoming the limitations of conventional Wallpaper TVs in ultra-slim design and installation.
Conventional Wallpaper TVs had to place key hardware needed to operate the TV separately outside the set to achieve a slim profile. LG Electronics eliminated the tangle of cables around the screen by integrating key hardware into the TV and using a Zero Connect Box, which can be installed up to 10 meters away.
The LG SIGNATURE OLED W is a next-generation Wallpaper TV that combines ultra-slim technology with wireless transmission technology. It is about 9 mm thick and features built-in speakers in an all-in-one design. Ultra-slim technology is applied to key components, including the panel, power board, main board, and speakers, allowing the TV to be installed flush against a wall. It carries forward the technological legacy of the LG SIGNATURE OLED TV W, the world's first Wallpaper TV, introduced in 2017.
Another feature is its technology for transmitting video and audio wirelessly. The LG SIGNATURE OLED W is the world's first TV to use wireless technology that transmits video at 4K resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate, along with audio, without loss or delay. By connecting peripheral devices such as set-top boxes to a separate Zero Connect Box, users can enjoy high-definition content and games without connecting cables between the TV and external devices. The Zero Connect Box is also 35% smaller than those for previous wireless TVs, allowing it to blend more easily into the installation space.
The TV also brings together technologies that enhance picture quality. The LG SIGNATURE OLED W features Hyper Radiant Color, based on LG Electronics' picture-quality technology. Picture quality is enhanced by combining the latest OLED picture and sound processor, the 3rd-generation Alpha 11 AI Processor 4K Gen3, with Reflection Free Premium technology, which reduces light reflections.
