Attendees included Paju Mayor Son Baechan, Choi Rakwoo, head of LH’s Paju Project Division, and officials from LH headquarters’ Urban Landscape Department.
The GTX Cultural Park is a specialized park to be built on a 28,000-square-meter site above Unjeongjungang Station, at a total project cost of 14.5 billion won. Construction is targeted to begin after November, with completion planned for the first half of 2029.
The park will include signature facilities such as Runway 350, as well as Unjeong Cloud Plaza, Unjeong Well Plaza and Shade Sculpture Plaza. It will also feature cultural facilities including a gallery hall, concert hall and activity hall, which will host exhibitions, performances and events involving local residents.
The park’s nighttime landscape will also be a key feature. Landscape lighting will be installed on major structures, while phosphorescent stones and tree projection lighting will be placed along walking paths, creating a space that residents will enjoy visiting after dark.
The city expects the project to bring new vitality to the area around the GTX station, where private development has been delayed by the downturn in the construction industry. In particular, it believes that creating a cultural and recreational space for both GTX passengers and local residents will help revitalize nearby commercial districts and attract private investment.
Paju City and LH have been refining the design since 2024 through discussions on the park’s layout, specialized facilities and landscape plan.
