It also operates a separate channel where employees, known as “crew,” can submit questions at any time. Kakao plans to continue communicating with employees by holding monthly Open Talks and sharing updates on preparations until the new company is launched.
CEO Chung said, “Preparing for the new company involves establishing the systems needed for it to operate independently, ensuring users can continue using existing services without inconvenience, and redesigning structures and standards to suit the new company. It is a challenging process, but we are strengthening what we have built up while making new changes where needed.”
During the question-and-answer session, Kakao provided details about employment and working conditions. Kakao management said that as the rights and obligations related to Kakao’s existing businesses are transferred to the new company, Kakao AI, employees’ employment and working conditions will be transferred in their entirety. Existing working conditions, including leave and work arrangements, as well as the work environment, including offices, and benefits such as childcare centers, loans, Chunsik Dorak (the in-house cafeteria), and resort facilities, will also be maintained.
