Dementia Prevention Training Together in Virtual Reality... Dong-Eui Institute of Technology's Industry-Academia Collaboration Achievement
Group-Based VR Cognitive Training Program
"Content for Dementia Prevention and Improved Cognitive Function"
Dong-Eui Institute of Technology has achieved results in industry-academia collaboration with virtual reality (VR)-based cognitive rehabilitation content designed for multiple people to participate together.
Dong-Eui Institute of Technology President Kim Youngdo announced on October 16 that the DIT ANCHOR Project Group, led by Lee Hwasuk, had won the Outstanding Achievement Award in the Offline Exhibition Hall category at the 2026 Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation EXPO.
The winning entry at the event, held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from September 30 to October 2, was the "Group VR Player Program," developed through an industry-academia joint technology development project under the ANCHOR Project. The experiential content was created to help prevent dementia and improve cognitive function, and was designed to let multiple users participate in training together in a virtual reality environment.

A key feature of the exhibition was that it demonstrated the content's practical potential by letting people experience it firsthand, rather than simply displaying the results of technology development.
Students also took part in running the booth. Han Jeongwoo, a student in the Department of Fire Safety Management, introduced the content to visitors and presented the university's industry-academia collaboration achievements. He also gained practical experience by learning about collaboration initiatives at other universities.
Han Jeongwoo, a student in the Department of Fire Safety Management, said, "It was meaningful to run the booth myself and introduce our university's achievements to others, and it was a valuable experience to learn about industry-academia collaboration initiatives at other universities."
The Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation EXPO is an annual event where universities, businesses, research institutions, and local communities share the results of their collaboration and promote successful cases. At this year's event, Dong-Eui Institute of Technology also examined initiatives by other universities and partner organizations and explored ways to advance future projects and expand the impact of its achievements.
Lee Hwasuk, head of the DIT ANCHOR Project Group, said, "This award is especially meaningful because it recognizes the value of the results of industry-academia joint technology development carried out through the ANCHOR Project, which we presented firsthand."
Lee added, "We will expand industry-academia collaboration programs that reflect the needs of local industries and communities, and work to ensure that our development achievements are put to use in the field and in local communities."
