The Righteous Army's Call Resounds in Cheongsong... From History to Future Generations
Seven Memorial Facilities from Across the Country Take Part
Hands-On Activities Revisit the Anti-Japanese Spirit and the Value of Honoring Those Who Served
Cheongsong County, North Gyeongsang Province, held a historical and cultural experience event to reflect on the historical significance of the anti-Japanese Righteous Army and carry on its spirit of patriotism.
Cheongsong County Governor Yoon Kyunghee and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Patriots and Veterans Foundation, led by CEO Han Heewon, said on October 15 that they had held the “2026 Gyeongbuk Righteous Army History and Culture Experience Festival” on October 14 at the Cheongsong Anti-Japanese Righteous Army Memorial Park.

Seven memorial facilities from across the country, including the Cheongsong Anti-Japanese Righteous Army Memorial Park, took part in the event and ran activity booths themed around the Righteous Army and the independence movement.
In particular, at the Righteous Army Memorial Hall, elementary and middle school students learned about the activities of the Righteous Army in the late Korean Empire and the significance of the anti-Japanese independence movement.
Through activities at each memorial facility, participants had the opportunity to learn about the history of the Righteous Army and the efforts of their forebears to defend the country.
Cheongsong County plans to use the event to strengthen cooperation among memorial facilities and expand veterans education programs that draw on local historical and cultural resources.
“We will expand experiential events that make use of local historical and cultural resources, building on cooperation among memorial facilities,” said Yoon Kyunghee, governor of Cheongsong County. “We will work to foster a culture in which people learn about history in their daily lives and appreciate the value of honoring those who served the country.”
The value of history education lies in passing memories on to the next generation. This event was significant in giving young people the chance to experience history firsthand in Cheongsong, where traces of the anti-Japanese Righteous Army remain.
