Korea AI and Robotics Industry Association Receives Presidential Commendation on 'World Standards Day'... Leads Industry Standardization
Recognized for contributions at ceremony hosted by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards
Strengthens industry-academia-research collaboration and response to international standards for intelligent robots
The Korea AI & Robot Industry Association (the Association) announced on October 15 that it had received a Presidential Citation in recognition of its work to establish technical standards for the robotics sector at home and abroad and strengthen the industry’s overall competitiveness in standards.
The Association said it received the award for its contributions to building a foundation for standardization in the robotics industry and leading international standardization efforts at the World Standards Day 2026 ceremony held on October 14. The award is a government commendation hosted by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korean Standards Association (KSA). It recognizes outstanding organizations that have contributed to technological self-reliance in industry and to securing leadership in global standards.

It has proactively identified demand for technical standards in production settings and connected it to the development of national and industry standards. It has also focused on sharing the latest standardization issues among participating organizations and pooling their capacity to respond jointly through the Intelligent Robot Standards Forum.
The Association has also continued to pursue strategic cooperation with overseas standards organizations. It has supported the participation of Korean experts in relevant working groups, keeping pace with technical developments at major international standards organizations, including ISO Technical Committee 299, the robotics technical committee under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Object Management Group (OMG). Through these efforts, it has served as a bridge to ensure that Korea’s core technologies and the needs of its industries are actively reflected in international standards discussions.
