"Introducing Japanese Innovators" Shinhan Securities Co-hosts 'Korea-Japan Deep Tech Conference' in Seoul
Co-hosted with Japan's UMI Ventures; JEPLAN and Tsubame BHB invited as deep tech companies
Shinhan Securities said on October 15 that it had co-hosted the Korea-Japan Deep Tech Conference with UMI Ventures, a Japanese venture capital firm specializing in materials, components, and equipment.
Held on October 13 at Shinhan Securities' headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, the event followed a program in Tokyo last August that introduced Korean deep tech companies. It was organized to introduce Japanese deep tech companies to Korean industries and identify practical opportunities for business and investment cooperation. Around 30 organizations attended, including domestic venture capital firms, asset management companies, securities firms, corporate venture capital (CVC) arms of large companies, research institutes, and related organizations.
Presentations were given by JEPLAN and Tsubame BHB, leading Japanese deep tech companies, which introduced their core technologies and growth strategies.
JEPLAN is a leading Japanese resource-circulation company with chemical recycling technology that converts waste plastic and discarded clothing back into raw materials. At the event, it presented its closed-loop resource-circulation model and examples of collaboration with global companies, sharing ideas for building a sustainable industrial ecosystem. Tsubame BHB is developing next-generation green ammonia solutions based on catalyst technology that produces ammonia under low-temperature and low-pressure conditions. It shared its strategy for expanding into carbon-neutral fields, including eco-friendly fertilizers and hydrogen carriers.
Attending organizations showed strong interest not only in the two companies' technologies but also in their business models for responding to shifts in the industrial landscape, including carbon neutrality, resource circulation, and the energy transition. After the presentations, discussions continued on potential business cooperation, joint research and development, and strategic investment.
