Grinda Selected for Scale-up TIPS Specialized Track: "SAF Feedstock R&D to Receive KRW 3 Billion in Government Funding"
Grinda, a climate-tech company specializing in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) feedstocks, has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ “Scale-up TIPS Specialized Track.” The company plans to advance its mass-production technology and strengthen its competitiveness in global supply chains through the project.
On October 15, a Grinda representative said, "We were selected for the program on the recommendation of Lotte Ventures and will receive up to KRW 3 billion in government R&D funding over the next three years."
Scale-up TIPS is a program through which the government provides substantial R&D funding to promising technology companies identified by private investors. The specialized track supports companies with strong technological capabilities and commercialization potential in advancing their technologies and strengthening their market competitiveness.
Grinda operates an integrated value chain spanning collection, pretreatment, refining, quality control, and supply, supported by a feedstock collection network of more than 3,000 locations nationwide. It supplies SAF feedstocks to domestic refiners and is expanding its business into overseas markets, including Japan. The company has also obtained ISCC EU and ISCC CORSIA certifications, internationally recognized sustainability certifications, establishing a foundation for supplying SAF feedstocks globally.
The project aims to develop an integrated process for the stable, large-scale production of SAF feedstocks from a range of waste materials, including leftover frying crumbs. The company plans to reduce energy use and wastewater generation while increasing production efficiency and quality stability, thereby securing a competitive edge in supply in domestic and international SAF markets, where competition to secure feedstocks is intensifying.
