Nowon-gu Opens "Nowon Reconstruction and Redevelopment NOW ON," Making the Mayor's Project Status Data Public
Based on the same data used by "Smart Vision" in the district mayor's office
"Strengthening support for urban improvement projects through transparent information disclosure"
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seo Jun-o) will launch an online service that allows residents to check project progress for themselves, using the same reconstruction and redevelopment status data reviewed by the district mayor.
Nowon-gu announced on October 15 that it will launch “Nowon Reconstruction and Redevelopment NOW ON,” a map-based service showing the status of urban improvement projects, on the district’s website on October 16.
NOW ON is an integrated service that brings together urban improvement project information that was previously scattered across different sources. Residents can use the map to check project locations and progress. For each project, the service provides its current stage, location and site area, planned project scale, and contact information for the responsible department. Depending on the project stage, it also provides bird’s-eye views and urban improvement plan maps.
The service is based on the same status data used in the district mayor’s office for “Smart Vision.” Last month, the district upgraded Smart Vision, which provides an at-a-glance view of major projects and policies, as well as disaster and safety matters, and established a foundation for managing the overall status of urban improvement projects and information on each project. The district mayor plans to personally review progress and key issues for each project and share major developments with residents.
The district considers transparent disclosure of information important to prevent a lack of information or confusion from escalating into disputes among residents, given the complex interests involved in urban improvement projects. It is also advising project promotion committees to provide comprehensive disclosure of project information.
Since the start of its ninth popularly elected administration, the district has strengthened its support for urban improvement projects around two key pillars: “institutional innovation to improve project feasibility” and “tailored on-site support for each complex.” It is pursuing “100 Regulatory Reforms for Reconstruction and Redevelopment,” an initiative to identify and improve 100 unreasonable regulations, and is making recommendations to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the central government on issues requiring improvements to laws and systems.
The district has also launched the “Nowon Reconstruction and Redevelopment Expert Advisory Group,” with experts from various fields, and the “Innovation Strategy Implementation Council,” which includes resident representatives and others, to help resolve issues at each stage of projects.
