The exercise will be held in conjunction with a comprehensive emergency rescue exercise by the Anseong Fire Station. It will simulate multiple disasters occurring at the same time and comprehensively assess cooperation among relevant organizations and their on-site response capabilities.
The exercise will link a discussion-based drill on response plans for disaster scenarios with a field drill recreating an actual accident site in real time. It will assess the entire process, from situation assessment to rescue operations, resident evacuations, and recovery.
Seven organizations will take part: Anseong City, the Anseong Police Station, the Anseong Fire Station, the 2nd Battalion of the Army’s 5171st Unit, the Anseong City Facilities Management Corporation, the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Anseong Hospital.
Five private groups, including the Korean Red Cross, Anseong City Volunteer Center, the local volunteer disaster prevention group, the volunteer fire brigade, and the exemplary drivers association, will also participate to assess the joint response system involving civilian, government, and military organizations.
The discussion-based drill at the city hall’s Integrated Disaster Situation Control Room will focus on disseminating information about the disaster, holding situation assessment meetings, and activating and operating the Regional Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
The field drill at the Nonghyup Startup Farmer Support Center will simulate each stage of the response process, including initial response, emergency rescue, operation of an on-site emergency medical center, resident evacuations, rescue operations, and disaster site recovery.
Anseong City plans to use the exercise to confirm each organization’s role and coordination system, and strengthen its response capabilities so that decisions can be made quickly and on-site action taken promptly when a complex disaster occurs.
