Yongin: 11 semiconductor materials, parts and equipment companies take part; in-person interviews and recruitment briefings held
Mayor Lee Sangil: "Quality jobs will increase further as semiconductor clusters get underway"

Yongin Special City in Gyeonggi Province is working to create local jobs and help companies secure talent, with a focus on the semiconductor industry. As construction of large-scale semiconductor industrial complexes by Samsung Electronics and SK hynix gathers pace, the city is also expanding employment support to meet staffing needs at semiconductor materials, parts and equipment companies.

Yongin Special City Mayor Lee Sang-il held the “2026 Second-Half Job Fair” at the second-floor plaza of Yongin Mireu Stadium on October 14. A total of 42 companies from a range of sectors, including semiconductors, industrial robots, cosmetics and machinery, took part and conducted in-person interviews with job seekers.

Particular interest from job seekers focused on the “Semiconductor Industry Pavilion,” newly established this year. Eleven semiconductor-related companies, including TES, Jusung Engineering, SurplusGLOBAL, Texon, Rootech Systems and HORIBA STEC Korea, took part, offering recruitment consultations and in-person interviews.

The Semiconductor Industry Pavilion drew job seekers of various ages, from people in their 20s to those in their 40s and 50s. This showed that interest in semiconductor-related jobs is growing as the industry establishes itself as one of Yongin’s key growth drivers.

In Yongin, Samsung Electronics is pursuing the National Industrial Complex for the Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster in Idong and Namsa-eup, while SK hynix is developing the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex in Wonsam-myeon. Accordingly, investments by domestic and international semiconductor equipment and materials companies, as well as their moves to set up operations in the area, are continuing.

In response to these changes in the industrial landscape, the city is strengthening recruitment support to connect semiconductor materials, parts and equipment companies with local job seekers. The Semiconductor Industry Pavilion was set up separately at the job fair to help address companies’ staffing shortages and provide residents with quality employment opportunities.

Thirty-one companies also took part in the general recruitment pavilion. These included KNR Systems, a manufacturer of industrial robots; Samwoo F&G, which delivers and installs Samsung Electronics products; cosmetics manufacturer Ian Global; and Brooks Instrument, an industrial machinery and equipment company. They sought to recruit talent through in-person interviews.

A range of hands-on activities and support programs for job seekers was also offered. Programs providing practical help with job preparation included semiconductor measurement and process experiences, generative artificial intelligence (AI) activities, résumé photo sessions and interview makeup tips.

Customized employment support programs also drew a positive response from job seekers. These included career aptitude assessments, fingerprint-based aptitude tests and identifying occupational strengths using the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI).

Mayor Lee Sang-il visited the job fair, toured the recruitment booths and encouraged job seekers taking part in in-person interviews. He also thanked company recruiters and called for cooperation to develop local industries and expand employment.

“Global semiconductor equipment companies such as Applied Materials, Lam Research and Tokyo Electron have already established a presence in Yongin or confirmed investments here,” Mayor Lee said. “We expect the number of jobs to grow further if the semiconductor projects proceed successfully.”

He added, “Around 60 materials, parts and equipment companies are expected to move into the National Industrial Complex for the Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster in Idong and Namsa-eup, where site preparation work is set to begin this month. Starting with this job fair, we will connect job seekers with quality jobs and companies with talented workers to further strengthen the region’s competitiveness.”
