Iran's IRGC: "Container Ship Sinks in Strait of Hormuz... Hits Sea Mine"
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on the 14th (local time) that a large container ship carrying smuggled goods sank after striking a sea mine in waters south of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the IRGC, the vessel caught fire after hitting a sea mine while attempting to pass through an unauthorized hazardous route in the Strait of Hormuz. It was carrying more than 2,500 containers.
The IRGC said the vessel eventually sank that morning in waters south of the Strait of Hormuz as the flames intensified.
