Jeong Jeom-sik on Lim Kwang-hyun's appointment as Blue House chief of staff: "No awareness of state affairs crisis... Gyeonggi-Seongnam faction figureheads"
People Power Party floor leader Jeong Jeomsik said on Oct. 14 that President Lee Jaemyung’s appointment of National Tax Service Commissioner Lim Gwanghyun as the new chief of staff was “evidence that President Lee has no awareness whatsoever of the national governance crisis,” adding that he had “installed figureheads from the Gyeonggi-Seongnam faction, including Kim Hyunji, the most powerful figure and chief of the presidential secretariat.”
Speaking to reporters at the National Assembly that afternoon, Jeong said, “Commissioner Lim has spent his entire career in taxation, apart from one year as a lawmaker. I question whether he has the ability to untangle the overall governance turmoil, knotted like a ball of thread, involving real estate, stocks, farmland, North Korea and South Korea-U.S. relations.”
Jeong said, “I never imagined that, in this grave situation, the National Tax Service commissioner would be promoted to chief of staff.” He added, “It is deeply concerning that former chief of staff Kang Hoonsik, who had at least served as a red team within the presidential office, has been pushed aside by Kim Hyunji, chief of the presidential secretariat.”

Jeong also said of the new chief of staff, “The first thing he should do is disband absurd organizations such as the task force for a golf meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. He should also put an end to the Gyeonggi-Seongnam faction’s interference in state affairs and curb the president’s excessive use of social media.”
