Pohang City Drives Administrative Innovation with AI, Offers "Up to 15% Benefits" at Good Price Shops
'Pohang-Style Generative AI System' Gets Underway
Pohang Love Card Promotes 'Livelihood Stability'
Pohang City is stepping up efforts to develop administrative services that residents can experience firsthand by strengthening the AI capabilities of its IT officials through voluntary initiatives. It is also supporting an additional cashback offer on the Pohang Love Card to stabilize the cost of living and revitalize neighborhood businesses.
On October 13, Pohang City held a special lecture and workshop on strengthening AI capabilities among IT officials at Yeonoseo Room in City Hall.
The event was organized to improve IT officials' understanding of technology and practical development skills in response to the growing importance of using AI across all areas of public administration.
The program featured a special lecture on the latest AI technology trends by Dr. Son Muntak of D&A Boy and a presentation on examples of integrating the Onnara System with AI by Lee Chanhan, CEO of Zero One.
Particular attention was drawn to programs that IT officials had developed themselves, without a separate development budget, to address inconveniences in their work.
The programs introduced included automation of overtime and business trip expense settlements, laptop reservation management, AI question coaching, Onmail address book management, and overtime alerts. These tools have significantly improved the efficiency of administrative work.
Pohang City launched a voluntary research group following the workshop.
The group plans to hold regular meetings twice a month for expert lectures, development training, and joint projects. In the longer term, the city will also consider the possibility of building a "Pohang-style generative AI system" that takes the security of internal administrative documents into account.
Meanwhile, to stabilize prices and boost sales for small business owners, Pohang City is offering an additional 5% cashback when customers pay with the Pohang Love Gift Certificate (card or mobile version) at Good Price Shops, a program that has received a strong response.
Customers paying by card at Good Price Shops registered as Pohang Love Gift Certificate merchants can receive an additional 5% cashback on top of the existing 10% discount, for a total benefit of up to 15%.
With this support, the number of additional cashback transactions at Good Price Shops surged about 3.3-fold, from 1,868 in August to 6,137 in September. The total amount of support also rose about 4.1-fold, from KRW 2,378,000 to KRW 9,851,000, providing tangible support for residents' prudent spending and increased sales for small business owners.
The city has significantly expanded the number of Good Price Shops to 377 and the number of Pohang Love Gift Certificate merchants to 326.
The additional cashback will be available through the end of the year or until the KRW 70 million budget is exhausted. Cashback details can be checked in the iM Shop app.
