Hana Bank Issues US$600 Million in Foreign-Currency Senior Notes
Hana Bank said on October 14 that it had successfully issued US$600 million in senior notes.
The offering consisted of fixed-rate notes with maturities of five and three years. The final issue rates were set at 5.50% per year for the five-year notes and 5.25% per year for the three-year notes. The spreads fell by 0.30 percentage points and 0.33 percentage points, respectively, from the initial guidance.
Even after the final spreads were set, investor demand remained at US$2.7 billion, 4.5 times the amount issued.
Hana Bank said it held investor roadshows (NDRs) for the first time in Shanghai and Beijing, in response to growing offshore bond investment by institutional investors in mainland China. It secured new investor demand through direct communication with major local institutional investors. The bank added that active order participation by mainland Chinese institutional investors helped secure stable demand and lower the issue rates.
