Meister and Specialized High Schools Among Those Covered

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will provide consulting on support programs to 38 vocational high schools in the region throughout October. The aim is to review each school's curriculum and practical training environment and identify improvements needed to strengthen students' employment skills.

The consulting will cover 38 schools in total: four Meister high schools, 32 specialized high schools, one high technical school, and one industrial school. The office plans to focus on curricula based on the National Competency Standards (NCS), the credit system for vocational high schools, workplace training, the management of experimental and practical training equipment, and safety and health management in training rooms.

In particular, for 20 schools in the industrial field, expert groups comprising vocational high school administrators and teachers in charge, as well as education office officials, will visit the schools to provide consulting. They will review the operation of NCS-based experimental and practical training equipment and gather feedback from schools to help ensure that instruction meets the needs of industry.

The education office will review the progress and operational status of support programs at each school, identify best practices, and share them with other schools. Follow-up measures based on the consulting results and performance analyses will continue through early 2027.

On-site consulting visits are conducted at schools in the industrial field in even-numbered years and at schools in the commercial field in odd-numbered years. The education office aims to strengthen each school's performance management system and improve the quality of vocational education through this approach.

Busan Superintendent of Education Kim Seokjun said, "This consulting process allows us to see firsthand the different circumstances and challenges each school faces and work together to find solutions. We will strengthen tailored support for each school so that vocational high school students can grow into talent needed by local industries."
