Ulsan City Signs Social Contribution Agreements with 21 Companies... Sustains Local Giving
13.3 Billion Won Invested to Support Vulnerable Groups from 2013 to 2025
Ulsan City is strengthening its cooperation with 21 local companies through social contribution agreements to support vulnerable groups and promote a culture of sharing in the community.
Ulsan City said it will hold the 2026 Social Contribution Companies Agreement Ceremony at the main city hall building on the afternoon of October 14. Around 20 people will attend, including Ulsan Mayor Kim Sangwook, Kim Jonggil, chairman of the Ulsan Metropolitan City Volunteer Center, and representatives of the companies signing the agreements.
The agreements renew those previously signed by 20 companies in 2012 and 2013, with Korea Zinc's Onsan Smelter joining for the first time. A total of 21 companies will now work together to promote sharing in the local community.
The participating companies are BNK Kyongnam Bank's Ulsan Business Group, Kyungdong City Gas, Korea Zinc's Onsan Smelter, Kumho Petrochemical's Ulsan Rubber Plant and Ulsan Resin Plant, the Ulsan headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, Dongseo Petrochemical, LOTTE Fine Chemical, LOTTE Chemical, Samyang Corporation's Ulsan Plant No. 1, Ulsan Port Authority, ISU Chemical, Taekwang Industrial, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters, Hanwha Solutions' Ulsan Plant, Hyundai Glovis, Hyundai Motor's Ulsan Plant, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, LS MnM, SK Innovation's Ulsan Complex (CLX), and S-OIL's Ulsan Plant.
Under the agreements, Ulsan City will work with the companies to promote their social contribution activities and provide administrative support. The participating companies will continue their sharing initiatives to address local issues and strengthen the social safety net. They also plan to take part in the annual Joint Volunteer Program for Social Contribution Agreement Companies, contributing their resources and capabilities to the community.
Since 2012, Ulsan City has established a framework for social contribution partnerships with companies and has carried out related projects through the Ulsan Metropolitan City Volunteer Center. From 2013 to 2025, it invested about 11.4 billion won in company-specific programs and about 1.9 billion won in joint programs, for a total of 13.3 billion won, to support vulnerable groups and promote volunteering.
Major initiatives include improving housing conditions for vulnerable groups, providing goods to low-income families, supporting people affected by disasters and emergencies, and organizing volunteer activities for company employees. The program “A Happy Journey, Taking to the Skies Together,” which brings company employees together with people with disabilities and older adults on trips to Jeju Island, is also run as a social contribution initiative involving companies and the local community.
This year, the fifth season of “A Happy Journey, Taking to the Skies Together” will take place from October 28 to 30, 2026, on a two-night, three-day schedule. The program will create opportunities for interaction and sharing through activities bringing company employees together with vulnerable members of the local community.
