Oh Sehoon: "Improving Seoul Residents' Quality of Life and Boosting the Nighttime Economy Require Cooperation from 25 Autonomous Districts"
Mayor Oh Attends Seoul District Mayors’ Council on the 14th
Urges Smooth Implementation of Integrated Care Program
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon called on the 25 autonomous districts to actively participate in and cooperate with policies to improve residents' quality of life and revitalize the nighttime economy on October 14.
Attending the 204th meeting of the Seoul Metropolitan District Mayors' Association at Seoul City Hall that morning, Oh said, "The effort to revitalize the nighttime economy, which we launched to revive Seoul's economy, cannot succeed through the Seoul Metropolitan Government's efforts alone. We need the active participation and cooperation of all 25 autonomous districts."

"We have selected 100 key initiatives and are getting started on them one by one, with progress relatively on track," he said.
He added, "We have begun by focusing on health as we strive to make Seoul a special city for quality of life," and called for policies tailored to the circumstances of each autonomous district.
While noting that Seoul's international standing had recently improved, Mayor Oh stressed that more work was needed to improve residents' quality of life.
He cited Seoul's selection as the world's best big city in a readers' poll by the influential U.S. travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler, and Jongno 3-ga's ranking as the world's coolest neighborhood by the British city and travel publication Time Out.
"The Seoul Metropolitan Government has worked hard, but this was also thanks to the 25 autonomous districts coming together and cooperating," he said. "Seoul's global standing is improving, but we still have a long way to go before the quality of life enjoyed by Seoul residents every day is the best in the world."
He also called for the smooth implementation of the integrated care program, which began in late March. "I have been told that the program is progressing well, but I wonder whether older adults and people with disabilities are making good use of care services on the ground," Mayor Oh said. "I hope the autonomous districts will pay close attention to local conditions."
