Experience investing with simulations and the Investment Time Machine
Korea Investment Management Co., Ltd. announced on October 14 that it had launched Investment Plus (TO+), a new investment platform where users can compare publicly offered funds, including exchange-traded funds (ETFs), in one place and build investment experience.
Investment Plus (TO+) was designed to let users explore ETFs listed in Korea and domestic publicly offered funds on a single platform. Users can find relevant products based on their areas of interest and investment goals, even if they do not know the name of a specific product, making the platform more accessible to beginners with limited investment experience.
The platform consists of four sections: discovering investment products, comparing products, trying out investments, and managing investments. In the investment product discovery section, users can explore ETFs and funds based on their areas of interest and investment goals. They can start with topics such as a particular industry, the U.S. market, or dividends and browse a variety of products.
The product comparison section provides an at-a-glance view of the features and differences of individual ETFs and funds. It also offers an "Easy Comparison List," which groups products by topic for users who are unsure which products to compare.
Investment Experience, one of Investment Plus (TO+)'s signature features, lets users try out various investment strategies before investing for real through simulated investing and an Investment Time Machine. In particular, the Investment Time Machine allows users to see the returns they would have earned to date if they had invested in a product at a specific point in the past, and compare that result with what they would have earned by choosing a different investment.
The simulated investing feature lets users buy and sell products using virtual funds and track how their assets change over time. The investment management section brings together users' products of interest, investment packages, and investment solutions.
Korea Investment Management plans to use Investment Plus (TO+) to expand the role of an asset manager to include designing customers' investment experiences. Its goal is to help investors find products that suit their investment goals and preferences and invest for the long term, rather than chase short-term returns or trends.
"As the market for funds, including ETFs, has grown, investors have many more products to choose from, but beginners still struggle to figure out which products to explore and what criteria to use when comparing them," said Ryu Jihae, head of the Digital Strategy Division at Korea Investment Management. "Investment Plus (TO+) is designed to let users explore a range of investment products in one place, compare and try them out for themselves, and develop their own criteria for making investment decisions."
