LG CNS said Wednesday that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KDDI to cooperate on AX and DX businesses in the Asia-Pacific region. KDDI is one of Japan's three major integrated telecommunications companies, offering everything from business-to-consumer (B2C) services such as mobile communications and internet access to business-to-business (B2B) IT services, including AI, cloud, and telecommunications networks. It is expanding its global B2B business across the Asia-Pacific region, with 19 bases in 15 countries.

Under the agreement, the two companies plan to jointly identify new business opportunities in areas including AI, smart cities, telecommunications, and systems integration and operations management services. In AI, they will explore developing agentic AI services tailored to local businesses, based on LG CNS's agentic AI platform, AgenticWorks. They are also considering cooperating on work automation services using physical AI. The plan is to provide integrated robot management services to customers in manufacturing, logistics, and retail through LG CNS's robot transformation platform, PhysicalWorks.

In smart cities, the companies are seeking synergies in Southeast Asia. Their strategy is to establish a business model that combines LG CNS's expertise in urban integrated control systems and intelligent transportation system solutions with KDDI's telecommunications infrastructure technology, positioning themselves to capture a share of the rapidly growing market. The two companies will also share core technologies and expertise in telecommunications, one of KDDI's main businesses, and systems integration and operations management, while expanding their joint projects. To this end, they have formed a working-level consultative body and are developing specific opportunities in priority markets including Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and China.

Matsuura Kentaro, deputy head of KDDI's Business Growth Division, said, "This collaboration aims to create a new industrial foundation by integrating AI, telecommunications, and data. Going forward, we will work with a range of partners across the Asia-Pacific region to build a digital ecosystem that supports businesses and social infrastructure."

Park Sangkyun, executive vice president and head of LG CNS's Telecom, Retail and Service Division, said, "We expect to create new business opportunities in the Asia-Pacific market by combining the capabilities of both companies. Together with KDDI, we will deliver tangible results in our global AX business."
