Samsung Securities Family Office Surpasses 200 Families, Assets Top KRW 55 Trillion
From Dual-Team Wealth Management to Heritage and IB Services
Tailored Solutions for Ultra-High-Net-Worth Families
Samsung Securities said on Wednesday that its Family Office, a wealth management service for ultra-high-net-worth individuals, had surpassed 200 client families and KRW 55 trillion in client assets.
The growth is attributed to a more diverse client base, including not only business owners but also exit owners who have gained liquidity from selling their companies, emerging owners, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, as well as the continued development of tailored solutions for each family. In particular, the number of exit-owner clients has nearly tripled compared with three years ago.
Samsung Securities tailors its wealth management solutions to the asset-building journeys and investment objectives of clients with at least KRW 100 billion in financial assets. Investment management specialists and private bankers (PBs) jointly manage clients' assets, while family-specific advisory committees provide support on investments, tax matters, and succession planning. Assets under its outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO) service, which applies investment management processes used by institutional investors, exceeded KRW 900 billion as of the end of June this year.
The company has also differentiated its asset allocation strategies by client type. Exit owners tend to make active use of global assets and alternative investments, while traditional business owners tend to hold a balanced mix of stocks, bonds, alternative investments, and liquid assets. Emerging owners, meanwhile, tend to manage their personal and corporate assets separately.
Samsung Securities also works with global alternative investment managers Apollo, Blackstone, and KKR, as well as Singapore sovereign wealth fund Temasek, to identify investment opportunities. It also provides heritage solutions, including support for family business succession, trusts, donations, and real estate consulting. By drawing on its investment banking (IB) capabilities in areas such as initial public offerings (IPOs), fundraising, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), the company supports clients from business growth through post-sale wealth management and intergenerational succession.
