Gyeonggi Center for Public Interest Activities Support to Hold "Public Service RUN" in Suwon on October 31
The Gyeonggi Center for Public Interest Activities Support will hold “The More We Run, the Closer We Get to Our Society: Public Service RUN” on October 31 at Manseok Park in Suwon. The event invites citizens to walk or run about 4 km while learning about a range of social issues.
Participants will walk or run at their own pace, without competing for records or rankings. Registration is open to the first 100 people, and participation is free.
As they walk or run, participants will encounter messages about social issues and can also take part in civic engagement and hands-on programs at the event venue. Citizens who do not participate in the walk or run can also use the programs at the venue without registering in advance.
The event will run from noon to 3 p.m. Registration, event information, and pre-event activities such as selecting and writing messages will take place from noon. The approximately 4 km walk and run will start at 1 p.m.
The event is a joint project prepared by the third cohort of “Cheongpeul,” the youth activist network at the Gyeonggi Center for Public Interest Activities Support. The project was designed to inform citizens about social issues selected by youth activists and to give them a chance to encounter a range of stories from society naturally as they walk and run.
To decide what to include in the event, Cheongpeul members held an “Agenda Case Sharing Session” to explore a range of social issues and related cases. They selected messages they wanted to share with citizens and incorporated them into the event program.

“I believe public interest activities can begin with listening to someone’s story,” said Yoo Myeonghwa, director of the Gyeonggi Center for Public Interest Activities Support. “I hope the range of social issues Cheongpeul explored while preparing Public Service RUN will reach more citizens, and that walking and running together will give them an opportunity to take a closer look at our society.”
