LH President Visits Third-Phase New Town Day After Audit: "First Move-Ins Must Stay on Schedule"
2,089 Homes in Goyang Changneung Set for Move-In in December 2027
"Swiftly Advancing Supply of Universal-Type Public Rental Housing"
Lee Sung-hoon, president of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), visited the Goyang Changneung Public Housing District, a third-phase new town adjacent to Eunpyeong-gu and Mapo-gu in Seoul, on October 13 to review the schedule for the first move-ins, planned for the end of next year.
According to LH, Lee checked construction progress on 2,089 homes in the First Village (Blocks A4, S5 and S6) at the site, as well as preparations for transportation and daily-life infrastructure to be ready by the time residents move in.
LH said, "The visit came immediately after LH's National Assembly audit the previous day," adding that it demonstrated the corporation's determination to swiftly carry out on-site demands raised during the audit to stabilize people's housing and expand housing supply.

The development will cover 7.89 million square meters in the Deogyang-gu area of Goyang, with 38,000 homes for 92,000 people. Construction of the First Village, which Lee visited, is currently about 45% complete, with move-ins scheduled for December 2027.
Lee also inspected the planned site for a pilot project for universal-type public rental housing in the Goyang Changneung district.
Universal-type public rental housing, being developed under the August 13 measures, will offer larger floor plans in prime locations near transit stations in the Seoul metropolitan area, making it suitable for middle-income households as well. It will also provide community spaces tailored to the needs of residents, including young people and newlyweds.

Lee said, "We need to accelerate efforts to quickly supply housing in excellent locations, such as near transit stations, where people from diverse backgrounds, including young people and newlyweds, can live with peace of mind for the long term. We will change public perceptions of public rental housing by ensuring that the overall quality of the homes—including floor plans, finishing materials, community facilities and residential services—is on par with that of homes for sale."
