Financial Services Commission Chairman Lee Eog-weon has ordered the formation of a task force (TF) to hear employees’ concerns and suggestions following the decision to relocate the commission to Sejong.
According to the Financial Services Commission, Chairman Lee made the request at an executive meeting this afternoon, October 13.
A detailed plan for the second phase of relocating central government agencies, announced by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on October 13, includes a proposal to relocate 420 employees to Sejong in the second half of 2027: 340 from the Financial Services Commission and 80 from its affiliated Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). The ministry plans to relocate 44 central government agencies and other institutions currently located in the Seoul metropolitan area to Sejong in phases from 2027 through 2031.
Chairman Lee explained that the relocation is being pursued as part of the government's efforts to carry out its policy goals of balanced regional development and completing the administrative capital. He also reportedly thanked employees for ensuring that the commission continued to fulfill its core duties, including stabilizing financial markets and supporting the real economy, without disruption during discussions on government restructuring in September last year. He then asked them to respond wisely throughout the relocation process.

The Financial Services Commission plans to form a TF led by Administrative Services Bureau Director Shin Jinchang to identify employees’ concerns and suggestions that may arise during the relocation process. It will use their feedback in future consultations with relevant government agencies.
