Kiturami Cultural Foundation Awards KRW 100 Million in Scholarships... 100 Daegu Students Receive KRW 1 Million Each
On October 13 at 4 p.m., the Kiturami Cultural Foundation awarded KRW 100 million in scholarships to 100 middle and high school students at the Grand Auditorium of Daegu City Hall's Dongin Building, supporting the growth of outstanding students in the Daegu region and the development of future talent.
About 100 people attended the scholarship ceremony, including Daegu Mayor Chu Kyung-ho, Kiturami Group officials, and the middle and high school students selected as scholarship recipients.
The recipients were selected from students in the region who had demonstrated outstanding abilities in academics, the arts, or athletics, as well as exemplary students, based on recommendations from each district and county and a review by the Kiturami Cultural Foundation. Each of the 100 selected students received a scholarship of KRW 1 million, for a total of KRW 100 million.
Since establishing the Kiturami Cultural Foundation in 1985, Kiturami Group has continued a range of social contribution activities, including scholarship programs, guided by Chairman Choi Jin-min's philanthropic belief that "everyone should have equal access to educational opportunities."
In addition to its scholarship programs, which have supported about 70,000 students over the past 41 years through the Kiturami Cultural Foundation and the Kiturami Welfare Foundation, the group has returned a cumulative total of about KRW 65 billion to society through support for academic research, development funds for educational institutions, social welfare facilities, improvements to residential environments, and Kiturami boiler inspections.
