During the extraordinary session, the council will receive reports from the executive branch on next year's major work plans and review the direction and detailed plans for key projects. It will also examine various ordinance bills and other key agenda items, taking a comprehensive look at the necessity and effectiveness of projects and the appropriateness of policy implementation.
In particular, the report on next year's major work plans is a key opportunity to assess how fully local issues and residents' needs have been reflected in city administration. The council plans to closely review the implementation plans and feasibility of each project and identify areas for improvement to ensure they lead to policies that residents can see and feel.
During the five-minute free speeches held before the plenary session, members also made proposals addressing local issues and livelihood concerns. Councilmember Kim Jeongmi called for a plan to relocate the slaughterhouse in Seongi-dong, while Councilmember Shin Yongha outlined the role Gumi City should play and practical support measures for victims of rental deposit fraud.
Chairman Kang Seungsu urged fellow councilmembers to "carefully consider local conditions and residents' needs, and thoroughly examine the necessity and effectiveness of major projects through in-depth discussions to ensure they lead to policies that residents can see and feel."
He also called on the executive branch to "actively consider the opinions and policy proposals put forward by councilmembers during reports on the major work plans, and make thorough preparations to ensure that next year's major projects are carried out more effectively."
This extraordinary session is expected to provide an opportunity to review the direction of city administration for next year and strengthen the implementation of key policies.
The key will be whether the plans can go beyond assessing the validity of projects and be developed into policies that bring meaningful changes to residents' lives and regional development.
