The performances will take place at noon from October 14 to 16 at the Hammering Man Outdoor Cultural Plaza at the Heungkuk Life Insurance Building, and at 5 p.m. on October 17 and 18 in the building’s first-floor lobby. Admission is free.
Five jazz acts will take part in the concert. On October 14, guitarist Kim Suyu and harmonica player Lee Hangyeol will perform. On October 15, the Kim Yujin Trio, led by Kim Yujin, who won the Best Jazz Vocal Album award at the Korean Music Awards for two consecutive years, will take the stage.
On October 16, ZIP4 (Jipsa), a six-member band whose music is rooted in New Orleans jazz, will perform. On October 17, saxophonist Kim Oki, winner of the Korean Music Awards’ Musician of the Year award, will present reinterpretations of “Old Love” and “In the Rain,” among other songs. On the final day, October 18, the Moon Mihyang Trio will perform traditional jazz melodies.

“Just as Georg Baselitz explored artistic possibilities while considering new ways of expression, jazz also broke away from the conventions of existing music and established itself as a distinctive genre,” said Ahn Mihee, director of Sehwa Museum. “I hope this concert will offer an opportunity to experience the exhibition’s central theme, ‘transition,’ through music and to view the exhibition from a new perspective.”
