Songs of Memories Festival Held in Gwangju... Line Cultural Foundation and Line Construction Officially Sponsor the "Gwangju Chungjang Festival"
A signature festival in Gwangju ... 10th year of support for the "Gwangju Chungjang Festival of Memories"
Also serving as title sponsor of this year's signature program, the "Chungjang Parade"
The Gwangju Chungjang Festival of Memories, sponsored by the Line Cultural Foundation and Line Construction, opened on October 7 in the area around Geumnam-ro in Gwangju. The popular street festival, which brings local residents together, ran successfully for five days.
Now in its 23rd year, the festival is a signature downtown street-culture event featuring residents and cultural and artistic professionals from Gwangju and Jeonnam. The Line Cultural Foundation and Line Construction have sponsored the festival for 10 consecutive years since 2016. They have continued to increase their contributions and provide generous support to help the Chungjang Festival grow into a large-scale event.
This year's theme was "Songs of Memories." The festival's signature parade featured a competition among outstanding parade teams from Korea and abroad, as well as parades by the 13 administrative districts of Dong-gu, Gwangju. On the final day, the Golden Parade offered a variety of attractions as part of the street festival.
The Chungjang Festival, which uses the area around Geumnam-ro as its stage, has been especially highly regarded for transforming the downtown area itself into a vast cultural platform.
At the festival's closing ceremony, Oh Junghwa, chair of the Line Cultural Foundation, received the 30th Gwangju Dong-gu Residents' Culture and Sports Award. The award recognized her contributions to strengthening the foundations for regional cultural and artistic development through sustained support for local artists' creative work and scholarship programs for their children, as well as her efforts to enhance the festival's brand value through the foundation's ongoing sponsorship of the Gwangju Chungjang Festival of Memories.
Oh Junghwa, chair of the Line Cultural Foundation, said, "We will continue to actively support the event so that it can become a global cultural festival enjoyed by people in Korea and around the world." She added, "With the aim of contributing to the vitality of local culture and the arts, we will continue to carry out practical social contribution initiatives to support the arts community and nurture talent."
