Hanwha Ocean said on October 12 that it is hiring experienced professionals in five areas, including the design, licensing and quality management of nuclear-powered naval vessels. Applicants must have at least five years of experience in the relevant field, and applications will be accepted through October 25.
The recruitment drive aims to develop core technologies in-house and strengthen the company’s ability to carry out the project in preparation for the government-led nuclear-powered submarine project, the “Jangbogo N Project.” Hanwha Ocean recently established a dedicated organization, the Jangbogo N Development Group, and began building a cooperation framework with relevant organizations, including the government and the Navy.
The five areas of recruitment are: integrated design of nuclear power and propulsion systems; piping layout and stress analysis; integrated design of instrumentation and control systems; nuclear licensing and safety regulation; and nuclear quality management.
Drawing on its experience participating in the construction of all Jangbogo I, II and III submarines, Hanwha Ocean plans to continue expanding its technology and workforce related to nuclear-powered naval vessels. Further details about the recruitment are available on Hanwha Ocean’s official careers website.

“Unlike reactors for land-based applications and civilian ships, these vessels must be prepared for new operating conditions, including sharp turns, rapid maneuvers and explosive shocks,” said Choi Jeonghun, head of Hanwha Ocean’s Jangbogo N Development Group. “We will secure nuclear specialists ahead of time to prepare for this critical national project.”
