Innosimulation Wins Contract to Upgrade Hyundai Motor's UX Research Driving Simulator
Innosimulation, a company specializing in Physical AI training and validation solutions, has won a contract to upgrade a driving simulator for Hyundai Motor Company’s user experience (UX) research. After installing a simulator at Hyundai Motor’s Gangnam UX Studio in 2025, the company has now secured the follow-up upgrade project, continuing to apply its simulation expertise to mobility research and development.
Innosimulation, led by CEO Cho Junhee, said on October 12 that it had won a contract to upgrade the performance and research capabilities of a driving simulator used for UX research by Hyundai Motor Company.
The project will upgrade the driving simulator installed at the Gangnam UX Studio in 2025. Its main objective is to improve the stability and convenience of equipment operations by incorporating experience gained from operating the existing system, as well as feedback from researchers and test participants, and to create an environment that allows greater focus on research.
Hyundai Motor’s Gangnam UX Studio is a space where researchers can study and evaluate drivers’ driving experiences and vehicle UX by recreating a range of driving environments and vehicle conditions without operating an actual vehicle. The simulator makes it possible to reproduce virtual conditions that would be difficult to recreate repeatedly with real vehicles, and to analyze drivers’ responses and driving experiences.
The upgrade will improve the overall system based on operational expertise gained in research settings. The operating environment will be improved by simplifying complex control procedures and enhancing equipment stability, enabling researchers to focus on UX experiment design and data analysis rather than simulator operation.
The feel of the driver controls will also be fine-tuned. The response speed and feel of key controls, including the steering wheel and pedals, will be adjusted to more closely match those of a real vehicle. This will make virtual driving more immersive while reducing the sense of unfamiliarity and fatigue that may arise when using the simulator, helping test participants stay focused on the research.
The project will also improve consistency between real-vehicle driving data and simulator data. Data gathered under various driving conditions will be compared and analyzed, and the system will be adjusted to suit the research objectives, creating a more consistent and reliable research environment. The company said this would improve the accuracy of research data and enable more precise analysis of driver responses in future mobility environments.
Innosimulation is expanding its partnerships with mobility companies in South Korea and abroad, drawing on its expertise in virtual environment development and physical and digital engineering. The company sees simulators as more than equipment for recreating virtual driving environments, viewing them instead as infrastructure for Physical AI research and validation that links real-world physical environments with artificial intelligence.
In particular, the company uses simulation technology to reduce the time and costs involved in actual development by repeatedly validating a range of conditions in virtual environments and identifying potential failures in advance through “Safe Failure.”
“Being entrusted with the upgrade of Hyundai Motor Company’s UX research simulator after last year’s project demonstrates our expertise in Physical AI validation and virtual engineering,” said Cho Junhee, CEO of Innosimulation. “With this upgraded simulator, which offers greater operational stability and a more realistic control feel, we will do our utmost to help Hyundai Motor Company secure world-class competitiveness in future mobility UX research.”
