LEGO Group Launches First 'PlayStation' Set
"PlayStation 1" model recreated at nearly 1:1 scale
The LEGO Group announced on Oct. 12 that it has launched its first LEGO set themed around the 1990s video game console PlayStation 1, the LEGO PlayStation set.
The new set contains a total of 1,911 bricks and recreates the console and controller at nearly life-size. It also features various details that capture the console's distinctive features. The brick-built controller can be connected directly to the console, and the open and power buttons can be pressed just like those on the actual console.
Pressing the open button lifts the console lid to reveal a mini diorama inspired by one of two popular games. Each diorama features elements inspired by the racing game Gran Turismo, released in 1997, and the game Ape Escape, released in 1999.
