CU is expanding its range of winter products, including warm foods and cold-weather apparel, ahead of the winter season.
CU said on October 12 that it has been rolling out 19 types of cold-weather apparel since October 1, including thermal socks, tights, earmuffs, gloves, fleece jackets, and lightweight padded jackets. It has diversified its tights range with products such as fleece-lined tights and sheer stockings. On October 22, it will introduce winter outerwear, including a windbreaker (KRW 27,900), a fleece jacket (KRW 22,900), and a lightweight padded jacket (KRW 39,900).
On September 17, CU launched three types of "Wildfire Prevention Hand Warmers" in collaboration with the Korea Forest Service and the Korea National Park Service. Some of the sales proceeds will be donated to conservation activities for endangered wildlife.
Sales of related products have also risen as temperatures have begun to drop. From October 1 to 7, hand warmer sales increased 400.3% from the same period a week earlier. Sales also rose for hot bread (133.2%), tights (74.8%), ready-to-eat fish cakes (69.8%), hot Americanos (59.2%), and roasted sweet potatoes (56.1%).
Following roasted sweet potatoes and hot bread, CU has also been selling four types of freshly prepared steamed buns with sweet red bean, sweet potato, vegetable, and pizza fillings since October 6.
