"The United States, which I represent as your president, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but it did not," he said. "This is an indelible stain on the nation of Norway and those who made such a disgraceful and shameful decision."
Trump went on to say, "I should have received not just one, but eight Nobel Peace Prizes," and listed eight conflicts he claimed to have resolved: Cambodia and Thailand; Kosovo and Serbia; the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda; Pakistan and India; Israel and Iran; Egypt and Ethiopia; Armenia and Azerbaijan; and Israel and Hamas. Describing the wars in Ukraine and Iran as being "on the verge of ending or winning," he added, "Both wars are being resolved at an incredible pace, but just one of the eight wars I have already ended, particularly the one between Pakistan and India, would have been more than enough to earn me a Nobel Prize."
"I am also constantly preventing wars from breaking out between South Korea and North Korea, North Korea and Japan, and China and Taiwan," Trump said. "The only reason these regions have not been dragged into war is Donald J. Trump, president of the United States."
"The Nobel Peace Prize has forever lost credibility because of a small group of people with radical ideologies who are anti-democratic and, in effect, enemies of civilization," he said, voicing his displeasure again. "We will not forget Norway for withholding this prize despite our having achieved the greatest accomplishments in history."
Trump also shared a post on his social media platform Truth Social that day, without additional comment, criticizing this year's Nobel Peace Prize laureate Navi Pillay, 85, a former International Criminal Court (ICC) official, as "someone who openly hates the United States and Israel." He also posted a photo of Pillay and disparaged her, writing, "A woman who received the Nobel Peace Prize over great America," and "No one had ever heard of her except for the fact that she clearly hates Israel!"
The Trump Administration announced severe sanctions against the ICC hours after Pillay's award was announced, and called on allied countries to cooperate.
