Eligible animals are dogs and cats aged three months or older that have not been vaccinated against rabies. Dogs must be registered to qualify for support. The district will provide enough vaccines for 3,000 animals, and owners will pay only a vaccination fee of 10,000 won per animal at the clinic. The district said individual vaccinations without the support typically cost around 30,000 won, depending on the clinic.
Rabies is a zoonotic disease that can spread to people and animals through bites or scratches from infected animals, and it is difficult to treat once symptoms develop. The district provides vaccination support every year in spring and fall, when increased outdoor activity raises the likelihood of pets coming into contact with wild animals.
Owners who wish to have their pets vaccinated can visit a nearby designated clinic during the vaccination period. A list of clinics is available in the notices section of the district office website. Since operating hours and remaining vaccine supplies vary by clinic, owners are advised to call ahead to confirm that vaccinations are available.
