Labor Ministry Orders Work to Stop
One worker was killed and another injured after being struck by a tower crane counterweight at a power plant construction site in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on Oct. 10, at around 3:10 p.m. the previous day, a counterweight being lifted swung and struck workers nearby as they were installing tower crane counterweights at the power plant construction site in Bucheon, where DL E&C is carrying out the construction.
Worker A was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest but died. Worker B sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment.

The Bucheon office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor ordered work to stop immediately after the accident and is investigating its exact cause. Labor authorities plan to determine whether safety rules were followed and whether the Occupational Safety and Health Act or the Serious Accidents Punishment Act was violated.
