Exploring European Infrastructure Investment Opportunities... KIC Holds Seminar in London
The Korea Investment Corporation (KIC), a sovereign wealth fund, brought together European infrastructure investment experts and Korean institutional investors in London to explore investment opportunities.
On the 8th, KIC said it had held the 38th London International Financial Council on the 7th (local time), organized by its London office.
About 30 people attended, including representatives from the Korean government and public investment institutions, as well as private financial companies such as securities firms, banks and insurers.
Athanasios Zoulovits, a partner at InfraVia Capital Partners, who delivered the keynote presentation, said, "Uncertainty in the global economy is increasing structurally due to factors such as geopolitical conflicts and supply chain realignments. As countries' moves toward reshoring and nearshoring and energy independence converge with technological competition, a new global investment cycle centered on infrastructure is taking shape."
He forecast that the spread of artificial intelligence (AI), the energy transition and Europe's efforts to strengthen its strategic autonomy would be key drivers of future infrastructure demand. In particular, he expected long-term investment opportunities to expand in digital infrastructure, including data centers and optical communication networks; energy infrastructure, such as energy storage systems and power grids; transportation infrastructure, including railways and ports; and social infrastructure, such as healthcare and education.
He added, "In an environment of heightened market volatility, the ability to select investment targets and create tangible value through active asset management will become even more important. In the infrastructure mid-market in particular, there will be opportunities to transform businesses and create value in a variety of ways."
Founded in 2008, InfraVia Capital Partners is a European infrastructure investment manager. Headquartered in Paris, France, it currently manages assets worth about 20 billion euros (approximately 30 trillion won).
