Hana Bank Writes Off 134.3 Billion Won in Long-Term Delinquent Claims, Relieving 5,738 Borrowers
Hana Bank said on Oct. 8 that it had written off 134.3 billion won in debt owed by 5,738 long-term delinquent borrowers.
The measure was introduced to support the financial recovery of financially vulnerable people in difficult circumstances, helping them quickly return to the economy as active participants. The debt written off consisted of long-term delinquent claims that had been classified as special claims for at least five years.
Those who benefited from the write-offs included many young people and older adults with fragile financial foundations who needed prompt assistance. A total of 5,738 people, holding 9,215 accounts, had their debt burdens eliminated in full.
Hana Bank also wrote off 221.8 billion won in long-term delinquent claims in June (for 5,225 people across 15,105 accounts).
