Shinhan Securities Releases "Hangul Embraces the World" for Hangul Day's 100th Anniversary
Brand campaign commemorates 580 years since Hunminjeongeum's promulgation and the 100th anniversary of Hangul Day
Shinhan Securities said on October 8 that it had released a brand campaign video titled “Hangul Embraces the World” on its official YouTube channel, AlphaTV, ahead of Hangul Day on October 9.
This year marks 580 years since the promulgation of Hunminjeongeum in 1446 and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Hangul Day, which began as “Gagyanal” in 1926. Shinhan Securities specially planned the video to look back on the value of Hangul in a year when these two anniversaries coincide.
The video uses a variety of examples to show the roles Hangul has played in each era since its creation. Starting with everyday expressions such as “ne,” “nep,” and “neng,” which convey the same meaning but feel different depending on how they are written, it expands its focus to the emotions, knowledge, and culture recorded in Hangul.
The video also covers examples from history, including old Hangul letters that conveyed feelings difficult to express aloud and stories of Hangul being used as a code when the country was in crisis. In particular, it is designed to make Hangul’s distinctive structural features easy to understand by inviting viewers to solve codes created by independence activists by rearranging consonants and vowels.
The video also traces how Hangul’s input methods evolved amid technological changes, from typewriters to computers and mobile phones. It conveys the message that Hangul’s greatness lies not only in its long history but also in its capacity to expand and embrace a changing world.
“Hangul Embraces the World” is available on Shinhan Securities’ official YouTube channel, AlphaTV. Alongside the video’s release, Shinhan Securities is also holding a community event through October 14 called the “Investment Language Mock Exam,” which invites participants to explain investment terms. Mobile coupons for MEGA COFFEE will be awarded to selected participants through a random drawing from among those who comment.
