OCI, Jeonbuk National University Expand Industry-Academia Collaboration on Joint Semiconductor Materials R&D
Jeonbuk National University to Invest KRW 64.2 Billion in Semiconductor Materials Testbed
Cooperation to Span Materials Performance Evaluation, Process Demonstration and Commercialization
OCI said on Oct. 8 that it would expand its collaboration with Jeonbuk National University on semiconductor materials research and development (R&D).
As an anchor company in the specialized complex for semiconductor chemical materials, parts and equipment in Jeonbuk, OCI plans to lead efforts to build a local semiconductor materials ecosystem by pursuing joint R&D and demonstration evaluations of semiconductor materials.
OCI plans to conduct basic evaluations of semiconductor materials and process demonstrations using the fab cleanroom at Jeonbuk National University's Semiconductor Joint Research Institute and an advanced chemical testbed that will be built in the future.
Jeonbuk National University will invest KRW 64.2 billion to build a joint testbed for semiconductor materials and chemical companies in the Jeonbuk region. The university plans to establish research and demonstration infrastructure to verify the performance and reliability of materials in an environment similar to actual semiconductor processes.
OCI plans to strengthen its semiconductor materials technology competitiveness by using Jeonbuk National University's shared infrastructure and expand joint R&D opportunities in collaboration with companies that use the materials.
In collaboration with Jeonbuk National University's Semiconductor Joint Research Institute, OCI Central Research Institute plans to evaluate the performance and process suitability of semiconductor materials developed by OCI, and expand joint research to develop and commercialize new materials. It also plans to secure opportunities for joint R&D with companies that use the materials by linking its work with demonstration centers and national joint R&D projects in the future.
