"Protina Revalued as an AI Antibody Validation Infrastructure Provider"
An analysis has found that Protina is transforming into an infrastructure provider for validating AI antibodies.
iM Securities said on October 8 that Protina is shifting into an experimental validation (Wet-Lab) infrastructure provider that mass-produces and measures AI-designed antibodies to determine whether they work in practice, as well as a drug developer that uses the data accumulated through this process to create its own new drugs.
"Protina was an analytical services company as recently as a year ago, but its business model has changed," said Jeong Jaewon, an analyst at iM Securities. "The joint technology development and technology licensing option agreement with Samsung Bioepis in July and the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with Twist Bioscience in August illustrate this change."
Protina is a protein-protein interaction (PPI) data company that listed on the KOSDAQ market in July 2025 through the technology-special listing track. Its core technology, the single-molecule protein interaction analysis (SPID) platform, captures antibodies directly from cell culture fluid onto a chip surface without a purification process and measures binding strength and expression levels simultaneously.

"The fact that a major domestic biosimilar company has entrusted Protina's platform with the early stages of new drug candidate discovery could serve as a powerful reference for other companies that lack early-stage development capabilities," Jeong said. "The MOU with Twist Bioscience is beneficial to both companies, making it highly likely to lead to a definitive agreement." He added, "Key points to watch going forward include the pace at which demand for antibody data validation translates into actual revenue, through a definitive agreement with Twist Bioscience, project updates from Samsung Bioepis, and partnerships for key pipelines."
