Jang Donghyuk: "Ruling Party Confined Cho Hee-dae, Violating Separation of Powers... Parliamentary Insurrection"
People Power Party leader Jang Donghyuk said on the 8th, “The ruling party blocked former presidential policy chief Kim Yong-beom and former Democratic Party of Korea political affairs coordination office chief Jeong Jinsang from appearing at the parliamentary audit, while subjecting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Jo Hee-dae to a barrage of unconstitutional questions and holding him captive in the hearing room,” calling it “a clear violation of the separation of powers and an insurrection within the National Assembly.”

Jang said, “During the parliamentary audit, Chief Justice Jo cited provisions of the Constitution and firmly admonished the National Assembly and the president, saying they had no role whatsoever in the chief justice’s recommendations for Supreme Court justices. When the ruling party could not refute his argument, it began making an issue of Chief Justice Jo’s corporate credit card without cause.”
He continued, “If they want to uncover the truth about the re-recommendation of a Supreme Court justice, they should summon President Lee, not Chief Justice Jo. The person who insisted from the outset that it had to be Judge Kim Min-ki, and who threatened a re-recommendation in violation of the Constitution when that did not work, is President Lee, who should apologize to the people.”

Jang said, “The insults the Democratic Party of Korea hurled at Chief Justice Jo are insults not only to him personally but also to the judiciary of the Republic of Korea and its people. The people will fight alongside Chief Justice Jo and defend the judiciary. I hope he will trust the people and resume President Lee’s trial as soon as possible.”
