Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on October 8 that it will make draft special maintenance plans for five villages in Jung-dong, a first-generation new town, available for public inspection and collect residents' comments.
The villages are Bandal A, Geumgang, Jungheung, Sarang-Kkumdongsan, and Podo.
The public inspection period for Jungheung Village runs through October 12, while the periods for the other four villages run through October 20. Residents can review the plans and submit their comments to the city on matters including the proposed direction of redevelopment.

Based on the master plan, it supported the development of redevelopment plans and directions for each village and helped prepare the draft special maintenance plans.
Under the current draft plans, the projected number of households is 4,459 in Bandal A Village, 2,581 in Geumgang Village, 3,228 in Jungheung Village, 3,837 in Sarang-Kkumdongsan Village, and 3,000 in Podo Village. These figures may change during the collection of residents' comments, consultations with relevant agencies, and review.
The city will also review infrastructure needed for residents' daily lives, including transportation, parking, parks, and green spaces, taking into account changes to the residential environment resulting from the increase in the number of households.

After the public inspection period ends, the city plans to seek the city council's views next month and proceed with reviews in December before pursuing the designation of the five villages as special maintenance zones. It will also carry out related procedures, including the decision and public announcement of the special maintenance plans.
Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ik said, "The public inspection is an important process that allows residents to review their village's redevelopment plan and share their views. We will carefully review the comments submitted and reflect them in the plans, and proceed smoothly with the relevant procedures through the designation of the special maintenance zones."
