No Actual Damage Expected as Data Was Leaked in Encrypted Form
Personal information of around 5,000 Kia union members has been leaked.
According to the Kia labor union and other sources on October 7, personal data of Kia union members was also leaked during a cyberattack on the server of the online education platform operator Malkunsoft that occurred on September 19.
The labor union at Kia's Gwangmyeong Plant had entrusted Malkunsoft with the management of its online education systems and servers.

A Kia official explained, "Since the union members' personal information was leaked in encrypted form, it is highly unlikely that any actual damage will occur," adding, "The union is also taking follow-up measures, such as establishing additional security protocols."
