Sharing AI-Driven R&D Innovation Strategies
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia showcased their strengths in electrification and hydrogen technology at a leading European automotive technology conference.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced that they participated in the 'Aachen Automotive Colloquium 2026,' which was held in Aachen, Germany from October 5 to October 7 (local time).
The Aachen Colloquium is a premier European automotive technology conference where global automakers, research institutions, parts suppliers, universities, and industry experts gather to discuss the future of automotive technology and industry development.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia held a keynote speech, technical sessions, technology exhibitions, and test drive programs, sharing their future growth strategies and next-generation key technologies with stakeholders from the global automotive industry.
On the second day of the event, October 6, Manfred Harrer, President and Head of R&D at Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Beyond Boundaries, Expanding a Sustainable Future" at the opening session.
This marks the first time since the conference began in 1987 that Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have delivered a keynote speech at the Aachen Colloquium.
During his keynote, President Harrer presented the xEV strategy, which encompasses EV, HEV, EREV, and FCEV models, outlining the company's approach to leveraging the strengths of each electrification technology to respond to market changes and customer needs.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia also explained that they are building a data flywheel structure based on vehicle data and customer experience to continuously enhance products and services, and are driving R&D innovation through development frameworks centered on digital twins and virtual validation.
President Harrer stated, "Future mobility cannot be achieved through a single technology or solution," adding, "The key to future mobility competitiveness will be connecting the strengths of various technologies."
At the conference venue, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia operated an exhibition hall centered on hydrogen fuel cell and electrification technologies, comprehensively demonstrating their technological competitiveness in future mobility.
Additionally, to allow participants to directly experience Hyundai Motor Company and Kia's electrification technologies, test drive programs for The All-New NEXO and the GV60 Magma were operated. Participants were able to experience hydrogen mobility and high-performance electrification technologies by driving designated courses of 11 to 12 km near the event site.
On the final day of the event, October 7, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia also plan to participate in technical sessions focused on hydrogen, electrification, and battery technology, where they will share insights regarding the future potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology, expansion strategies for xEV electrification technologies, and the direction of future mobility based on next-generation batteries.
