The session was attended by Superintendent Kim Daejung and Sophy Bae, Head of Google for Education Northeast Asia, and focused on AI-driven personalized classes for students, as well as ways to strengthen teachers’ competence in utilizing AI.
In particular, both organizations agreed to expand cooperation so that students can develop the essential skills needed in future society by utilizing various digital collaboration tools. Key areas of cooperation include: ▲ supporting interactive lessons between teachers and students using Google educational services within the AI Education Platform; ▲ introducing an ethics education program for proper AI usage; and ▲ supporting the development of global talent capabilities. Focusing on these efforts, both institutions plan to enhance their cooperative framework to boost the AI and digital competencies of both teachers and students.
Previously, Google for Education had supported the enhancement of AI utilization capabilities by conducting generative AI hackathons and Google certification courses for 1,000 teachers in the Gwangju region.
Sophy Bae, Head of Google for Education Northeast Asia, stated, “We will provide full support so that Google’s advanced educational tools and generative AI technologies can take root deeply in the education field in Gwangju-Jeonnam, fostering creative learning approaches. I am confident that, through this, both students and teachers will grow into global talents who will lead the society of the future.”
