The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on October 6 that they hosted the 'Korea Sound Journey' event on October 2 at Changgyeonggung Palace in Seoul and the nearby traditional Korean house, Hoigyeomjae, with participation from about 100 foreign tourists.

This event was organized to expand the message from the 2026 Korea tourism global promotional video "Begin to Hear Korea," which was released in July, into an actual travel experience. The video features actor Park Bo-gum, who has served as the Honorary Ambassador for Korean Tourism for two consecutive years, as he embarks on a journey with a Danish musician to discover sounds from various places across Korea.

The event attracted foreign tourists and global influencers from more than 20 countries, including China, Japan, the United States, and Thailand. The participants were the final winners selected from among approximately 2,300 people who joined the "Sound Quiz: Where in Korea?" event run on the Korea Tourism Organization’s YouTube channel "VISITKOREA."

In the first part, "Sound Walking," participants were divided into eight groups and walked around various parts of Changgyeonggung Palace with professional sound walkers. Rather than simply viewing historical sites, they recorded and listened to the surrounding sounds, offering a sensory way to experience the atmosphere of the palace.

Ten foreign influencers also took part in the program and will produce and share social media content based on the sounds and experiences they collected at the site.

The second part of the event, "Sound Talk and Share," took place at Hoigyeomjae, a traditional Korean house near Changgyeonggung Palace. Park Bo-gum and the participants listened together to the sounds recorded during the first part and enjoyed a "Sound Quiz" to guess from which locations the sounds were collected.

There was also a Korea tourism balance game and behind-the-scenes talk about filming the global promotional video with Park Bo-gum. The program allowed participants to experience the sounds of Korea they had previously only seen on screen in real spaces, and then connect these experiences through discussion.

Park Sung-hyuk, President of the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "We organized this event so that foreign participants could use their own eyes and ears to experience the daily life and emotion of Korea. We will continue to offer new travel experiences that go beyond simply seeing destinations, allowing visitors to experience and remember the sounds, atmosphere, and daily life of Korea."
