The KB Insurance Stars volleyball team has kicked off the new season in Pyeongtaek. Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province views the hosting of professional volleyball home games as a stepping stone toward fulfilling its 9th popularly elected administration’s pledge to establish and attract professional sports teams.

View original imagePyeongtaek City (Mayor Choi Wonyong) announced on the 6th that the KB Stars’ 2026-2027 season kickoff ceremony was held on the 5th at the Grand Performance Hall of the Pyeongtaek Nambu Culture and Arts Center. Over 500 people, including players and club officials, distinguished guests, and citizens, attended to cheer on the team.
This season, KB Stars will play all regular league home matches at the Ichung Culture & Sports Center in Pyeongtaek. The kickoff ceremony was organized to bring together players and Pyeongtaek citizens ahead of the home opener and to pledge a successful season together.
The event included a fan signing session, a talk concert, team introductions, a head coach inauguration, and congratulatory performances. Programs symbolizing the team’s new start in Pyeongtaek were also featured, such as a volleyball challenge with Mayor Choi Wonyong and the club owner, and a key handover ceremony for the team’s new home at the stadium.
Pyeongtaek City plans to collaborate with the team to prepare for home games by enhancing stadium facilities, traffic and parking, and safety management. The city aims to ensure that attending professional volleyball games brings new joy to citizens’ daily lives and revitalizes the local community.
Mayor Choi Wonyong stated, “Today’s kickoff ceremony not only marks the beginning of a new season for KB Stars, but also serves as a meaningful occasion announcing a fresh start for both Pyeongtaek and professional sports.” He added, “I hope KB Stars will become a true team for our citizens—playing and cheering together as one.”
